Kilnsey, near Skipton, North Yorkshire
Kilnsey Park Fly Fishery
Two spring-fed Dales trout lakes beneath classic limestone scenery give Kilnsey a character very different from the big reservoirs. It also suits mixed fishing and family trips, because the wider estate has a café and visitor facilities.
Rules
Current rules state that no trout over 5 lb may be taken; fish above that threshold are protected under the published retention rules. Consult the full rules page for hook, fly and fish-retention requirements: https://kilnseypark.co.uk/fishing-2/rules/ Best months and methods (Better Angler editorial suggestion, not a guarantee of catch rates): March-June and September-November using dries, nymphs, buzzers and small lure patterns, adapted to the clear spring-fed lake conditions.
