Port of Menteith, Stirlingshire

Lake of Menteith Fisheries

Scotland's only natural body officially named a lake is also one of its premier competition trout venues. Boat-only fishing, on-site-reared trout and a strong dry-fly and buzzer reputation give Menteith a coherent destination identity.

Rules

Boat only. Standard pricing is catch-and-release oriented; up to four trout may be retained after paying the applicable supplement. All pike must be returned. Competition rules can impose additional barbless or debarbed and fly restrictions. Best months and methods (Better Angler editorial suggestion, not a guarantee of catch rates): April-June and September-October. The operator specifically highlights dry-fly and buzzer fishing from drifting boats, and summer evening sessions offer a longer day.
