Llanidloes, Powys

Llyn Clywedog Trout Fishery

Clywedog combines high-altitude Welsh scenery with heavy stocking, a modern boat fleet and real double-figure trout potential. Its own trout-production operation and famous summer terrestrial falls give it a distinct identity.

Rules

Fly fishing permits; current boat and fishery rules must be followed and an EA rod licence is mandatory. Exact current hook and retention wording beyond the operator's downloadable rules is unspecified. Best months and methods: June-July is particularly interesting for surface fishing during Coch-y-bonddu beetle activity; autumn can produce excellent top-water fishing around daddy-long-legs, and spring and autumn buzzer hatches are also documented.
