Trawsfynydd, Gwynedd

Llyn Trawsfynydd / Traws Lake

Trawsfynydd is unusually versatile: fly and bait fishing coexist on the bank while a large fly-only boat fleet covers an expansive Eryri reservoir. Its documented 17 lb 12 oz trout record gives the venue genuine specimen credibility.

Rules

Multi-method fishing is allowed from much of the bank, with bait or fly; several bank areas are fly-only. Boats are fly fishing only. Best months and methods: April-June and September are strong choices. Official guidance highlights mini-lures, palmered flies, buzzers and dries, with floating and intermediate lines particularly appropriate because much of the reservoir is relatively shallow.
