Normanton, near Oakham, Rutland
Rutland Water
Rutland combines the scale of one of England's great reservoirs with an exceptionally mature trout-fishing operation. Bank anglers, boat anglers and winter predator specialists all have a clearly defined season here.
Rules
Trout fishing is fly only. Pike, perch and zander fishing is governed by separate autumn and winter predator-method windows; anglers must hold the correct permit and comply with current rules and biosecurity guidance. Best months and methods (Better Angler editorial suggestion, not a guarantee of catch rates): April-June and September-November for bank or boat trout on buzzers, nymphs, dries and lure patterns; September-January for seasonal predators within the published method calendar.
