Aberystwyth Angling Association holds fishing rights on around 16 miles of the Rivers Rheidol and Ystwyth for wild brown trout, sea trout and salmon, alongside a portfolio of upland stillwaters on the Pumlumon range. Permits are required before fishing and are not sold bankside; a valid Environment Agency rod licence must also be shown. Fishing on the rivers is by fly, spinning or worm depending on location, with several named sanctuary stretches closed to protect fish stocks. The association publishes detailed rules for each water, operates boats on some lakes for a fee, and offers concessionary, student, youth and free junior permits alongside standard adult and joint season tickets.
