Abingdon & Oxford Anglers Alliance

Oxfordshire alliance with Thames, Cherwell and Evenlode fishing plus Dorchester Lake and Marlborough Pool.

The Abingdon & Oxford Anglers Alliance was formed in 1964 when several Oxford-area clubs, including the Abingdon and District Angling and Restocking Association and the Clifton Hampden Piscatorial Society, joined together. It controls a substantial amount of river fishing, with stretches of the Thames at places such as Duxford, Bablock Hythe, Eynsham, Pinkhill and Sandford-on-Thames, plus the Cherwell at Holywell Meadows in Oxford and the Evenlode at Cassington. Stillwaters include Dorchester Lake and Marlborough Pool, a carp water leased from the Blenheim estate since 1948, and the Alliance also runs a trout lake stocked with rainbow trout. A reciprocal arrangement gives members access to some Littlemore Angling Society water at Sandford.
