Bishop Auckland & District Angling Club
Long-established club offering extensive game fishing for salmon, sea trout, brown trout and grayling on the River Wear.
Established in 1936, Bishop Auckland & District Angling Club controls over seventeen miles of game fishing on the River Wear, divided into several beats and a town water stretch running through Witton Park, Escomb, Vinovium, Newfield, Hunwick, Willington and down towards Page Bank and Croxdale. The club targets salmon, sea trout, brown trout and grayling and maintains more than forty-five named pools across its beats. Membership runs on an annual basis with a 2026 season now open through the club's online booking system, and junior membership is offered free of charge subject to application. Visiting anglers can purchase day tickets for brown trout or salmon and sea trout fishing. The club publishes rules, fish counts and membership information on its official website and operates alongside its own online booking platform for renewals and bookings.
