Darlington Anglers Club

Long-established Darlington club offering river fishing on the Tees plus a stocked lake at Cleasby.

Founded in 1893/1894, Darlington Anglers Club has over 300 members and controls around nine miles of fishing on the middle reaches of the River Tees, stretching from High Coniscliffe in the west down to where the River Skerne joins the Tees at Croft. The river holds wild brown trout, grayling, chub, dace, barbel and occasional salmon and sea trout. The club also owns Cleasby Lake, a stocked stillwater near the village of Cleasby. Membership runs annually from January to December, administered through an online membership system, with free junior membership available to relatives of members. The club monitors its catches through mandatory member catch returns, uses the data to guide restocking, and has worked with a local wildlife trust on mink control around Cleasby Lake and its adjoining stretch of the Tees.
