Godmanchester Angling Society
Community-run society with around 15 miles of Great Ouse and backwater fishing at Godmanchester.
Godmanchester Angling Society has organised coarse fishing in the town for close to a century and now runs under the Godmanchester Community Association. It holds rights over roughly 15 miles of bank on the River Great Ouse and linked waters, some reached only by a long walk. The best-known and most accessible length is the Recreation Ground stretch, fishable in most conditions. Other waters include Lees Brook off Berry Lane, Cooks Stream either side of The Avenue, the main river on Westside Common, and Fishers Dyke and Rymers Weir Backwater on Eastside Common. Day tickets and season memberships are available, and the society holds annual adult and children's competitions.
