Loughborough, LeicestershireLoughborough Soar Angling Society
Leicestershire club controlling River Soar, Grand Union Canal and stillwater fisheries around Loughborough.
Formed in 1865, Loughborough Soar Angling Society controls a wide variety of river, canal and stillwater fisheries between Sileby and Kegworth in Leicestershire. On the River Soar, members fish stretches from Sileby boatyard downstream to Sutton Bonington and beyond, noted for chub, bream, barbel, carp, pike and perch, with ongoing barbel restocking work carried out with the Environment Agency. The society also controls lengths of the Kegworth, Zouch, Loughborough and Barrow sections of the Grand Union Canal. In 2025 the club negotiated a year-round fishing trial at Dishley Pool with Loughborough's local council, reflecting continuing active management. Night fishing is permitted on the river and at Dishley Pool for season ticket holders. The society issues rules on fires, dogs, bait restrictions and bank conduct, and runs organised matches with bookings taken by telephone or email.
