Newland Angling Club

Witney club with four Standlake lakes and River Windrush rights.

Formed in 1950 by Witney anglers, Newland Angling Club began by renting a stretch of the River Windrush and later took on disused gravel pits near Standlake that are now mature club lakes: Surmans Lake, Bents Pool, Specimen Lake and States Lagoon. The club still holds fishing rights on stretches of the Windrush near Witney, confirmed for 2026/27, giving members river fishing alongside the lakes. Night fishing is allowed on some waters, and memberships and guest tickets are sold at State Fishing Tackle in Witney.
