Richmond & District Angling Society

Long-established society offering River Swale fly and coarse fishing plus two members-only lakes near Richmond.

Richmond & District Angling Society, founded in 1912, controls around thirteen miles of the River Swale around the historic market town of Richmond, North Yorkshire. Waters are divided into beats including Oxque, Marske, Round Howe, The Falls and The Batts, Easby, Iron Banks Wood, D'Arcy Hildyard, Broken Brae, Brompton-on-Swale, Catterick Bridge and Great Langton, offering fly fishing for wild brown trout and grayling alongside coarse fishing for chub, dace, barbel and pike. The society also holds two members-only lakes at D'Arcy Hildyard, booked separately from river waters. Membership is managed online, with exchange tickets available with neighbouring clubs, club events, competitions and a junior section. The society is run entirely by volunteers and is moving its membership administration system in 2026.
