Rochdale Walton Angling Society

Founded in 1858, Rochdale Walton AS fishes lakes at Healey Dell and Syke plus the Rochdale Canal.

Founded in 1858, Rochdale Walton Angling Society is one of the oldest angling clubs in the region. It manages two lakes at Healey Dell and two lakes at Buckley Wood in Syke, holding carp, roach, tench and other coarse species, and is developing an additional water on its land at Healey Dell. The society has also taken on the management of several miles of the Rochdale Canal. It has disabled-access pegs, family and veterans' memberships and runs around 25 matches a year. Under-18s may not fish at Syke without an adult member, and plastic baits are banned on all club waters.
