Rookery Angling Club

Small club founded in 1954 fishing lakes where Surrey, Kent and East Sussex meet.

Rookery Angling Club is a small, friendly club founded in 1954, originally known as the Rookery Lake Angling Club. It caters for pleasure, match and specimen coarse anglers on waters around the point where Surrey, Kent and East Sussex meet. The club's lakes include Gatwick Manor near Holtye Common, a two-acre water of around ten pegs, and two lakes at Ladycross Farm near Lingfield, a woodland bottom pool with a large head of carp and roach and a smaller top lake holding double-figure carp. Members also fish an upper stretch of the River Medway at Fordcombe. The club holds its annual general meeting each October, runs club and inter-club matches between April and December, and presents trophies for specimen fish each year. Membership numbers are strictly controlled, with a waiting list in operation when places are full.
