Kent society founded in 1875 with six members' stillwaters plus River Medway and Eden fishing around Tonbridge.
Tonbridge & District Angling & Fish Preservation Society was formed in 1875 and is one of the larger angling clubs in the South East. Based around Tonbridge in Kent, it controls a group of stillwaters, mostly former gravel pits, together with lengths of the River Medway and River Eden, offering coarse fishing for a wide range of species up to specimen size. Waters range from the large Barden Lake, known for big carp, to quieter pits such as Longfield Lake and the Old Ballast Pit, the society's oldest stillwater. In 2025 the society marked its 150th anniversary and bought adjoining land at Lower Haysden Lane with plans for two new lakes. Membership is managed online with tiered permits for night fishing, and the society holds a well-attended AGM, runs work parties and maintains an ongoing stocking programme.
