Windermere, Cumbria

Windermere, Ambleside & District Angling Association

Cumbria's largest angling club, with stocked trout fisheries, coarse tarns and Lake District pike fishing.

Windermere, Ambleside & District Angling Association (WADAA Ltd) describes itself as the largest angling club in Cumbria. Fly anglers have stocked trout fisheries at Bigland, Capernwray, Farletonview, Ghyll Head, Hall More and High Newton. Coarse anglers can fish the club-managed tarns at Castlehead, Cleabarrow, Hall More and Ratherheath, which hold carp, tench, bream, roach, perch, rudd and eels, along with Skelsmergh Tarn, a protected marl lake near Kendal, and Atkinson's Tarn near Crook, added in 2023. Members also pursue pike on Grasmere and Rydal Water. Ratherheath has six disabled-access pegs with a level path from the car park. Coarse, game and full memberships are offered, day tickets are available on selected waters, and younger anglers are welcome.
