Witney Angling Society

Society holding the fishing on council-owned Witney Lake.

Witney Angling Society has fished Witney Lake, also called Ducklington Lake, under an agreement with Witney Town Council since 1991, maintaining its swims over three decades. In 2024 the society, with council support, registered the lake as a fishery with the Environment Agency so it can be legally stocked. The lake sits between the River Windrush and a brook and can flood; fishing is allowed only in the northern part, as the southern area is a nature reserve. Licences are issued through State Fishing Tackle in Witney.
